The MTV Video Music Awards took place on the 11th of September. Taylor Swift swept the awards, including Video of the Year & Artist of the Year, becoming the most awarded artist in VMAs history. Sabrina Carpenter won Song of the Year, while Chappell Roan was chosen as the Best New Artist.
Speaking of Roan, before the ceremony she got into a spat with a photog on the carpet, as she stood up for herself while he was hurling abuses at her. Aptly, her outfit was giving medieval-warrior-princess and she even channeled Joan of Arc in her performance later. Sabrina on the other hand, wore a vintage Bob Mackey that was originally worn by Madonna. Subsequently, her performance stole the show as she danced with astronauts (a nod to the Moonman VMAs award) and kissed an alien (on her own accord). Other performers included Benson Boone doing a backflip, Katy Perry performing her medley of hits and a rather lacklustre performance from Lisa of Blackpink.
