Spring-Summer Outfit Inspo
While coquette-core with its bows and all things pink, and pops of red and burgundy from last year’s runway looks are still popular in 2024, the clean girl and minimalist aesthetic seems to have evolved with a sporty edge. Welcome to ‘tennis-core’. Athletic brands like Lululemon, Alo Yoga and Adanola are already quite the rage so it is no surprise that we are leaning further into sportswear, with the focus being tennis outfits. Mini skirts have already had their mainstream comeback thanks to Miu Miu’s micro skirts and the quick fast fashion rollout by brands like Zara and H&M, so the combination of these two trends is perfect for our Spring-Summer outfits. The show Apples Never Fall and Gen Z style icon Zendaya’s upcoming movie, Challengers, both showcase tennis-core big time. With easy-breezy pleated skirts, skorts, shorts and simple polos and tanks, or one-piece dresses, paired with some classic sneakers, I’m here for this ultimate comfort chic meets preppy look.
Watch Out
With the Oscars taking place last weekend, it’s time to catch up on some Best Picture nominees that weren’t Barbie or Oppenheimer. If you’re looking for a procedural drama with deep characterization and raw human emotions at the forefront, Anatomy of a Fall is your pick. Now, with Emma Stone winning Best Actress for her performance in Poor Things, I was quite excited to watch the quirky-looking adaptation. Let’s just say, that apart from deep meanings and a social commentary subtext, it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Certainly wasn’t mine. Moving on to the much-awaited part two of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, it’s a visual delight and a top-notch movie-going experience. With stunning vistas, haunting scores and commanding performances by Timothee Chalament, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson and Austin Butler, it lives up to the hype created by the first instalment of the franchise. Watch it in IMAX if you can and feel the sandworm scenes rumble the floor like a 4D screening. And well, if the serious, artsy or sci-fi type is not your type, have unabashed fun with Po in the newest Kung Fu Panda voiced by the enigmatic Jack Black. Also, you can now catch the most talked about and highest-grossing tour of all time at your home as Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour concert film is now available to stream on Disney Plus. With extra songs including Cardigan and The Archer (cut from the theatrical release of the movie) and four additional songs in the acoustic set, Taylor’s 3-hour performance is a must-watch whether you’re a Swiftie or not!
