Cinephiles rejoice as A24’s Babygirl (starring Nicole Kidman (what is she NOT in these days??) & Harris Dickinson) and horror movie Nosferatu are both getting a Christmas release. Trailers for both are out now. Babygirl, if you’re into a sort of reverse Fifty Shades. Nosferatu, if you’re into goth vibes and vampires.
The Substance starring Demi Moore & Margaret Qualley is currently making waves online. The story is about a fading celebrity who decides to use a black-market drug, a cell-replicating substance that temporarily creates a younger, better version of herself.

Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts World Tour concert film is coming to Netflix on 29th October!
Beyonce features in the new commercial for Levi’s. She is also in the news for being linked to P Diddy’s nefarious activities. Rumour has it, younger celebs have allegedly been scared of her due to her association with Diddy and the damage she could do to their career. Real or a second-coming of the Illuminati conspiracy? We’ll never know but this dialogue has already resulted in Beyonce losing millions of followers on Instagram.
From plastic surgery to whether the moon landing was real, Ariana Grande addressed it all in her lie detector test for Vanity Fair.
Apparently, the uproar caused by Sabrina Carpenter ‘Feather’ music video (scenes depicting killing people in a church) is what led to investigations into the priest and in turn, his connection to the Mayor of New York, leading to his indictment. Talk about impact.

The cast of Veep along with special guests did a live table read to support the American Democratic Party. The Zoom call gave us this precious screenshot of Larry David looking like a baby on a high chair.
Blazers are back…?
I’m not asking, nor am I telling you…yet. It’s more of a testing-the-waters territory. This past Monday after waking up to the intimation of a rescheduled Pilates class, I lay in bed and scrolled Instagram at 6:20 AM (that sentence sounded SO pretentious I’m sorry). I wasn’t expecting to find pop culture content at this hour but these three posts (in pic) were served back-to-back in my unchronological, algorithmic feed. The common factor? Blazers. I questioned if they were truly “in”, as 3 consecutive posts about ANYTHING else (Moo Deng, demure, Chappell Roan) would have convinced me of the virality. But fashion is a bit more distinctive and esoteric than that. So I played a little game where instead of googling blazers + trend, I continued to scroll my feed without altering the algorithm I was on, to see if anyone else showed up wearing a blazer. Lo and behold, it took approximately 4 more posts and less than a minute to spot one. While it was the second picture in a carousel, a blazer is a blazer.
Now of course, I have to consider that all these posts are Euro-centric. Equally, the season is transitioning in most parts of the world and people will inevitably start wearing lighter layers this time of the year, blazers being a valid option. But blazers are also decidedly, a choice. It’s famously evocative of 2014-15 when office-chic and looking professional in casual settings was cool. And if there’s one thing we know about trends, it loves a comeback.
Saint Laurent’s show at Paris Fashion Week highlighted women dressed formally. Bella Hadid came out of a sabbatical to help display THIS vision on the runway. Women in power suits, constructed for the female gaze. YSL’s looks were head-to-toe means-business, but the regular fashion girlie (gender neutral) is not picking up a couture look from the showroom. So what’s the easiest takeaway to inspire her daily OOTDs to be a little more Saint Laurent and in season (weather-wise & fashion-wise)? Well, blazers. They probably already have a couple, and an oversized one in a dark colour or shade of brown instantly fits, not only the autumn/fall mood board but is instantly reminiscent of an outfit someone in Friends or Meg Ryan in a romcom would’ve worn. And so we’re reminded, it’s also a classic and timeless look.
So there you have it. Blazers are back, most probably. And speaking of fall fashion, woven leather totes are also IN.
