Holding space for the lyrics of defying gravity: No one can make sense of what this Wicked interview means, why Ariana holds only Cynthia’s index finger and why it’s being implied that Cynthia Erivo has written the song when the musical has existed long before the movie.

The rebrand that wasn’t it: Jaguar is making headlines for the wrong reason. It’s minimalist rebrand and letting go of the iconic imagery is a masterclass in how not to treat a legacy brand.

Maybe we should stop caring so much
About celebrities. I know I sound like a hypocrite given I write about them and their antics, but the parasocial intrigue and expectations should stop somewhere.
Former One Direction member, singer Liam Payne’s funeral took place this past week and while a majority of the Internet mourned alongside his near and dear ones, some so-called fans and media publications were treating this as a star-studded Hollywood event that warranted pictorial updates of grieving attendees, calling it a ‘One Direction reunion’ and fawning over how the ex-band members looked. Particulary, Zayn Malik was trending online, with multiple posts garnering hundreds of thousands of likes, that talked about how attractive he looked. The disregard for the reason why he was there is vulturous and self-serving to a whole new level.
Equally, another instance this week was the outrage over Sabrina Carpenter’s concerts. Parents of young children took to social media to express disdain over the sexual nature of Sabrina’s concerts and the same being inappropriate for their kids who they took to see her live. But this only means that they’ve never heard what their children are listening to or watching on social media, to think the concert was appropriate for them. Why does it become the artist’s responsibility and code of conduct when that’s not the audience they are meant for? Being a former Disney Channel star doesn’t mean she has to abide by that demographic well into adulthood and all her life. This tweet said it best.
The societal pressure on Disney Channel stars leading most of them to drugs needs to be a thesis paper
